Generally, coarse ore particles shall be hit by large steel balls, and fine ore particles shall be milled by small steel balls. If there are too many big balls and the grinding is not fine, it is manifested as "under grinding". On the contrary, too many small balls, large surface area and over crushing will increase. At the same time, due to too few large balls and insufficient ball striking force, the so-called "over grinding and under grinding" will be formed. Therefore, it is very important to correctly determine the size of the largest and smallest ball for reasonable ball loading and improving grinding efficiency.

Suitable ball diameter

After studying the motion of the steel ball in the cylinder of the ball mill, it is found that it is equally important to determine the steel ball size of the smallest ball and the largest ball. On the basis of a certain formula, the problem of suitable ball diameter can be solved by selecting the priority number of preferred ore particle size and required steel ball size. According to the actual situation of the materials to be ground, the particle size is grouped, and the steel ball size required by each particle size group and the yield of each particle size group are calculated.
